Domenico Starnone is an Italian writer, screenwriter, and journalist. Born in Naples in 1943, he worked as a high school teacher before writing for several Italian newspapers. In 2001, he won Italy's most prestigious literary award, the Strega Prize, for his novel Via Gemito. Many of his other novels have also been adapted into screenplays.
